kay you might not realize this, but I am not a lawn care company, really I am not. I help my clients with landscape needs- all the fun stuff that happens next to the lawn. So I care if the lawn looks good next to all the great landscaping we do!
Here are 3 tips in helping your lawn look good during the summer:
- Mow regularly: by only cutting about 1/3 of the total height off you can help make your grass stronger and healthier. The shorter clipping are easier to mulch back into the lawn as well.
- Don’t scalp the lawn- ok so this goes with mow regularly, but keeping your lawn at 2-2 1/2″ length is really a good thing. The taller grass can then shade the crowns on hot summer days preventing it from getting burnt out as easily.
- Water in the morning or in the early evening. Watering when the sun is just about to come up or low in the sky makes for less stress on the lawn as well. Those tiny water droplets are like magnifying glass’ and can fry the lawn in the hot mid day sun Note- midday sprinklers with “children” running through them disrupts water droplets from being magnifying glasses, so if you have to water mid day be sure to run through the sprinkler while its on!
